IDI Fellow Ed Shapiro Directs Learning for Leadership, an International Group Relations Conference, in June 2015.

- By David Fromm

IDI Fellow and Board Member Dr. Ed Shapiro will lead his final group relations conference this June 16-21 in Dover, MA.  The conference, Learning for Leadership — Working Across Differences: An International Experiential Leadership Opportunity — is an intensive 6-day Conference and Advanced Training Program sponsored by the A.K. Rice Institute, the Tavistock Institute and the Center for the Study of Groups and Social Systems.

From the conference website:

Leadership happens at the interface of the individual and the group. But groups and organizations can be confusing: there are too many voices and ‘under the surface’ pressures. Understanding the group enables us to work more effectively. What if we could build a new institution to learn from? What if we could see how our own personalities are shaping it, opening new perspectives on how we might take up leadership roles?

This is what we will do at this conference. Working over six days with a diverse international membership, we will create a temporary institution together to help you understand how group pressures can affect your outlook and influence the ways you lead and exercise authority.
